James Q. Sones, M.D., was born in Merdian. He graduated from Mississippi College, where he was president of the student body, with a Bachelor or Science degree in Zoology, with minors in both English Literature and Chemistry. Dr. Sones received his medical training from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, where he also served as Senior Class President. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Sones completed an Internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. While studying at Parkland, Dr. Sones completed a Clinical Pharmacology Research Fellowship. Dr. Sones is one of the founding members of G.I. Associates. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
